Massage Session
Before we begin, we talk about your needs and concerns. We also cover what has worked well for you in past massages whether from another therapist or me. Then I create a session specifically for you with your approval. Layer by layer, I work with your body to erase patterns of stress, tension and discomfort. The end result is to bring you to a place where you can realize the greatest healing.
Massage is an experience for all the senses. Therefore, whether you receive a medical or relaxation massage, services provided in my office include soothing music, soft lighting, aromatherapy, and I offer a hot thermaphore if you would like, while you receive your massage.
Please be aware that massage therapy is not JUST for relaxation. Over a three year period, I have taken several workshops enabling me to learn more about medical massage through the St Johns Neuromuscular Therapy Method. I finished my last class in October of 2004 and was ready to begin adding NMT to my practice, but my last daughter was born not to long after that. I'm now ready to offer this service to the people in the Lake Region Area. NMT therapists are hard to come by as they are few and far between in our area. Some symptoms that NMT is known to help with includes back pain, neck pain, headaches including migraines, shoulder pain, hip pain, fibromyalsia syndrome, excessive wear of the joints, disc degeneration, exacerbated postural distortion patterns (head forward posture, tilted shoulders or hips, problems with the normal spinal curve, scoliosis), joint compression, fatigue or loss of energy due to physiological demands of to much muscular tension, dizziness or vertigo, sypmtoms of TMJ and more... NMT includes work varying from Myofascial Release to Deep Tissue Massage. I was taught to go layer by layer according to how my clients body accepts each massage tecnique. I start with some Myofascial Release because fascia is a flexible structure that covers every organ, muscle, bone, nerve and blood vessel in our bodies. When one area of fascia becomes tight, that tightness corresponds to other parts of the body. In certain instances, there may be some discomfort due to the fact that I need to go through other large muscles to reach a deep attatchment point which may be the cause of my clients pain.
2008, I have experienced a new phenomenon via a friend. I started incorporating this new tecnique into my work and it has been well received by my clients. My friend, Stephanie Wilson, is a genius! This stuff is awesome! If you are not a fan of the hard trigger point pressure release, this would be great for you! Give it a try!
