Benefits of Massage

Massage Facts For You!

What is Massage Therapy?

It is the manual or mechanical manipulation of the body's soft tissues. It involves movements such as pressing, rolling, and tapping to evoke a therapeutic response in the recipient.
Touch is a natual human response to relieve pain and discomfort. It is the first sense to develop in humans and it may be the last to fade. Touch releases endorphins (the body's natural pain killers) which is why a mother's hug for a child's physical pains can literally make them better.

Stress

Homeostasis is the balance achieved in the body's internal environment. External stresses placed on the body move the body out of balance, which can lead to disease.
Stress is described as any psychological or physical situation or condition that causes tension or strain on the body. Stressors can be positive or negative. They can move the body away from the homeostasis.
Regardless of the type of stress, the body's physiological reaction is the same. Prolonged exposure to these stress hormones can cause health problems, even death.
My goal is to help people manage the stresses of living and deal with the small issues before they become serious illnesses. Research has shown that 85% of disease is caused by chronic stress. Minimizing the effects of that stress on your body and mind is what massage is all about. I have learned many special techniques that I imply with my clients to help alleviate the pain they are experiencing.
